What is e-Aadhaar?

The e-Aadhaar card is an electronic & digital version of your Aadhaar Card that everyone can download online. It is a password-protected PDF electronic copy of your Aadhaar card, which is legally valid. Digitally signed by the UIDAI.

2 Types of Downloading e-Aadhaar

You can download 2 types of e-Aadhaar:
Regular Aadhaar: It shows the complete 12 digits of your Aadhaar Number.
Masked Aadhaar: Masked Aadhaar hides the first 8 digits & only displays the last 4 for more privacy. 

Important Note

When you download your e-Aadhaar, it comes on your mobile as a PDF file, which is password-protected. To open it, use a password made up of the first four letters of your name in capital letters & your birth year.
 Example: If your name is Radhika & Birth Year is 1990. Your Password will be RAHI1990.

Requirements for Downloading Aadhaar Card

Aadhaar Number, Enrolment ID or Virtual ID

Methods to Download Aadhar Card

Download Aadhar Card via UIDAI Website (myAadhaar Portal)

myAadhaar is a official portal that is manage & developed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It’s provide the facility to download e-Aadhar Card online on your deceives. Most of their services are digitally help the society & a part of digitalized India.

Steps to Download Aadhar Card via UIDAI Website

The UIDAI myAadhaar Portal is the easiest way to download e-Aadhaar by just following the simple steps:

• Visit the website https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
• Under the section of My Aadhaar, choose the Download Aadhaar option.

• Select How You Want to Download. Here are 3 options;
• 1. Aadhaar Number:  Type 12-digit number.
• 2. Enrolment ID: From the enrolment slips, pick the 28-digit EID.
• 3. Virtual ID: Enter your 16-digit VID number.

• Enter the Captcha code shown on the screen.
• Click on Send OPT to receive a one-time password on your registered phone number.
• Choose Aadhar type Regular Aadhaar or Marked Aadhaar for privacy.
• Enter the OPT you received, click on the Verify & Download e-Aadhaar will be safe on your device. 
• Open the file with a PDF reader (like Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Edge). Type 4 CAPITAL letters of your Name with Birth year.

Important Note: Any recent changes you made to your Aadhaar will appear in the new e-Aadhaar you download.

Download Aadhaar Using the mAadhaar App

You can also download e-Aadhaar using the mAadhaar mobile app.  That is the official app by UIDAI. It’s available on both Android & iOS devices.

Downloading Steps

• Install App: Download & install the mAadhaar app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
• Register on App: If you use this App first time, then open & register yourself according to the Aadhaar Card details. 
• Choose Language: Open the App & select the language that u easily understand & find comfortable to read or understand.
• Verify OTP: Type the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to sign in.
• Go to the Dashboard: After logging in, you’ll see all the Apps on the main screen. Tap on “Download Aadhaar” under the “Get Aadhaar” section.

• Select Aadhaar Type: Choose Regular Aadhaar to see your full name & Marked Aadhaar to see the last 4 digits. 
• Enter Details: Type your Aadhaar number, EID, or VID, and then enter the captcha code that appears.
• Request OTP or Use TOTP: Tap “Request OTP” to receive code on your phone, or choose the TOTP option inside the app (if it’s available).

• Download e-Aadhaar: Once your details are verified, click “Verify and Download” to get your e-Aadhaar on your mobile device.
• Open the File: use the same password format way first four letters of your name in CAPITALS, plus your birth year.

Download Aadhaar digitally via DigiLocker

DigiLocker is a secure online service launched by the Government of India under the Digital India program. It is a trusted cloud platform that allows users to store & access official documents online, free of cost. 
 With DigiLocker, you can easily download your Aadhaar card directly from UIDAI, so there’s no need to keep paper copies. This feature makes it simple to access your Aadhaar anytime without carrying a physical copy.

Steps to Download Aadhaar via DigiLocker

• Go to DigiLocker:  Visit https://digilocker.gov.in
• Download the DigiLocker app from the Google Play or Apple App Store.

• Get OPT: Then enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile.
•  Find UIDAI: In the search bar, type “UIDAI”, and select it. Choose the “Aadhaar” option.

• Enter Aadhaar Number: Type your 12-digit Aadhaar number and verify it using the OTP sent to your phone.
• Download Aadhaar: after verifying your Aadhaar card will show up under the “Issued Documents” section. Press the download icon to save your e-Aadhaar PDF.

• Open the File: To open the downloaded PDF, use your password — it’s the first four letters of your name in CAPITALS + your birth year (for example, RAVI1990)

Download Aadhaar Card Using Name and Date of Birth

If you forgot your Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID (EID), don’t worry. You can easily get it back using your name and date of birth, and then download your e-Aadhaar.

Steps to Download Aadhaar via Name & DOB

• Step 1: Visit the Website
  • Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ and click on “Retrieve EID/Aadhaar Number.”

• Step 2: Enter Your Details
  • Type your full name, registered mobile number or email, and date of birth.
• Step 3: Verify with OTP
  • Enter the captcha code, then click “Send OTP.”
  • Type the OTP you received on your phone or email..

• Step 4: Get Your EID or Aadhaar Number
  • After verification, your Aadhaar number or EID will be sent to your registered mobile number or email.
• Step 5: Download e-Aadhaar
  • Once you have your Aadhaar or EID, go back to the UIDAI website and follow the same steps as in the first method to download your e-Aadhaar PDF.

Downloading Aadhaar Without a Registered Mobile Number

If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar. You can’t download it online. In this case, you’ll need to visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK).

Here’s What to Do

• Find a Centre:
• Go to the UIDAI website or use the mAadhaar app to locate the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
• Biometric Verification:
• You’ll need to verify your identity by providing your fingerprint data or Risi scan.
• Carry ID Proof:
• Bring identity documents such as your PAN card, voter ID & passport, for verification.
• Get Aadhaar Printout:
• Once verified, the center staff will download and print your Aadhaar card.
• Normal colour print: ₹30
• PVC card: ₹50

Download Aadhar Via UMANG Portal

Download an Aadhaar card using the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app. It’s a government app that provides access to many online services, including Aadhaar.

Steps to Download Aadhaar

• Go to the Official Websit
  •  Visit the website https://web.umang.gov.in/
• Open the UMANG App:
  •  Download the UMANG App available on Android & iOS.
• Log In or Register:
  •  Sign in with your mobile number and verify it with the OTP sent to your phone.

• Search for Aadhaar Service:
  • In the search bar, write “Aadhaar” & choose “Download Aadhaar.”

• Enter Your Details:
  •       Type your Aadhaar number (UID)     EID & complete the OTP verification.

Additional Information

To use your e-Aadhaar, remember a few important things:

• Your e-Aadhaar is a PDF file with a password to protect your personal data.
• The password is simple use the first four letters of your name (in capital letters) and your birth year.
• Example: Amit born in 1984 → Password: AMIT1984.
• Open the file using a PDF app like Adobe Acrobat Reader.
• If it doesn’t open, make sure you typed your name and birth year correctly, just as they appear in your Aadhaar record.
